TUCSON, March 23 (UPI) -- A Kryronized aluminum alloy ballistic helmet that can withstand rifle fire is being launched by Arizona's Bourque Industries Inc.
The company said the helmet will be unveiled next month at a live-fire demonstration in Mesa, Ariz.
The helmet joins other recently introduced Kryronized aluminum products in the Bourque Industries line, including Class III ballistic armor strike plates. All Bourque Industries armor products exceed the NIJ-06 standard, the most comprehensive and rigorous body armor compliance standard.
Kryronized aluminum is a proprietary metal alloy developed by Bourque Industries that displays many useful characteristics unlike any other metal, among them excellent ballistic protection as a function of weight, a very high melting point and the unique property of being an excellent conductor of electricity but an insulator for heat.
Bourque said attending the live-fire demonstration will be Arizona elected officials, Mexican government representatives and military and law enforcement personnel.
Bourque Industries has accepted a number of orders for its personal armor ballistic plates and continues to solicit further interest.
Bourque Industries is also bidding on various other projects, such as manufacturing ballistic panels to reinforce military and civilian buildings, including courthouses.
The new helmet meets all U.S. military specifications.
