Alion awarded Defense Department contract

MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Alion Science and Technology has received a $2.4 million contract from the U.S. Defense Department to assist in prioritizing funding and development.

The Alion contract will assist in focusing the priorities of the Army Studies Program, the Army Advance Technology Objective Process and various associated initiatives.

Alion Vice President and Manager of the Army Support Operation William Zolp said of the contract: "Through Capabilities Integration, Prioritization and analysis tasks, our team of experts will evaluate the required warfighter capabilities. Our recommendations on combat development and systems life-cycle functions will assist the Army in making timely and effective decisions on warfighting capabilities."

The Alion contract is designed to help focus the Pentagon's National Military Strategy, which is the foundation of the U.S. military's plan to achieve military objectives in the near term and to provide the vision to ensure the Pentagon's "full spectrum dominance" for the foreseeable future. Alion has provided support to the Army Capabilities Integration, Prioritization & Analysis Directorate for more than a decade.
