BAE contract modification announced

WASHINGTON, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of Defense announced the award of a fixed-price delivery order to BAE Systems Tactical Vehicle LP of Texas.

The fixed-price delivery order, worth nearly $6.3 million, was awarded under an earlier contract for the procurement of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle Engineering Change Proposal for enhanced sustainability and safety of 1,700 Caiman Multi-Theater vehicles.

The sustainability includes: CMTV chassis, Caiman underbody survivability Kits, CMTV Integration Recon, Kuwait; CMTV training and integration support, Kuwait, Commercial Off-The-Shelf manuals (operator and maintenance), new equipment training packages, CMTV Battle Damage Assessment and Repair and other items.

BAE said about 90 percent of the work on the Caimans will be done in Kuwait, with the remainder at BAE facilities in Texas. Work is expected to be completed by the end of next year, it said.

The U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Va., is the contracting activity.

The Caiman, with a 10-person capacity, is used by Marines in Afghanistan as a troop transport.
