MCLEAN, Va., June 8 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army selected Alion Science and Technology to provide ongoing initiatives to distinguish friendly forces from foes with analysis support services.
Virginia's Alion was awarded a $3 million contract to provide its spectrum management and electromagnetic compatibility analysis services. Officials say Alion's services were selected to support the development of radar and combat identification systems in airborne and ground-based applications.
The radar technologies are part of a larger program to advance a soldier's ability to accurately identify enemy targets in combat zones from friendly units.
Alion's support for the radar development is for the Army Research Development Engineering Command, Communications-Electronic Research, Development and Engineering Center.
"Alion's support will allow CERDEC to test and train with new radar systems in the United States in a timely manner," Sue Archer, Alion senior vice president and manager of the Operational Solutions Group, said in a statement.
