ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 6 (UPI) -- Harris Corp. was selected to deliver its tactical radio technologies to support the International Security Assistance Force operating in Afghanistan.
New York's Harris says its Falcon III RF-7800S Secure Personal Radios under contract will provide troops with more than 1 mile of tactical voice and wideband data communications capabilities.
The $11 million deal with an undisclosed Partnership for Peace country also includes delivery of the Falcon II RF-5800M multiband manpack and handheld radios and Harris' Falcon II RF-5800H high-frequency radios.
The Harris radio technologies support the interoperability of communications among coalition forces operating in Afghanistan.
Company officials said in a release Wednesday the order will "result in one of the largest deployments of the Harris RF-7800S radio to (Afghanistan)."
