Curtiss-Wright to support Joint STARS

PARSIPPANY, N.J., March 25 (UPI) -- Northrop Grumman selected Curtiss-Wright Corp. to support the U.S. Air Force Joint Surveillance and Target Attack Radar System program.

U.S. company Curtiss-Wright announced it was selected to support the Joint STARS Prime Mission Equipment Diminishing Material Source. The Northrop Grumman award is also for Curtiss-Wright to provide support for the Joint STARS initiative with upgrades for the Radar Signal Processing technology.

The combined contracts from Northrop Grumman, awarded as part of a larger effort to support the Air Force's E-8 Joint STARS aircraft ground surveillance platform, are worth $10.5 million.

"Curtiss-Wright is committed to its leadership role in developing advanced products that support critical defense applications such as the Joint STARS program," Martin Benante, Curtiss-Wright chief executive officer and chairman, said in a statement.

"Our embedded computing technology will support the aircraft's advanced radar signal processing needs, which in turn provides improved efficiency for our military personnel."
