Army contracts for threat detection kits

LOS ANGELES, March 4 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army awarded a contract to Universal Detection Technology to deliver its biological threat detection technologies.

UNDT announced it received a purchase order to deliver its ricin and staphylococcal enterotoxin B biological threat detection technologies and its 5-agent detection kits to support Army initiatives to counter bioterrorism.

Company officials say the order comes in the wake of calls on the U.S. government to do more to prevent and counter bioterrorism threats in the United States.

"We are proud to be a supplier to the U.S. Army and to be a repeat vendor," Jacques Tizabi, UNDT chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"We will continue to market our bioterror detection equipment to all government organizations and we will continue to expand the range of anti-terror products that we offer."
