Boeing completes P-8A T1 test series

SEATTLE, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Boeing says its P-8A Poseidon surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft program for the U.S. Navy completed a monthlong series of vibration testing.

U.S. company Boeing says the P-8A Poseidon T1 aircraft stores ground vibration testing, part of the company's System Development and Demonstration contract with the Navy, was successfully completed.

The stores testing on the P-8A T1, one of Boeing's five Poseidon aircraft undergoing testing for the Navy's contract to purchase 117 of the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft, included 18 different weapons configurations. Officials say the testing data are under review before future flight testing.

"T1 responded as predicted throughout the rigorous set of tests," Chuck Dabundo, Boeing vice president and P-8 program manager, said in a statement.

"This is a major milestone for the team and paves the way for in-flight testing and verification of the P-8A's weapons capabilities."
