Shaw to compete for munitions task orders

BATON ROUGE, La., Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Shaw Group Inc. has been selected by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to compete for task orders as part of the Munitions and Range Program.

U.S. company Shaw announced it was selected along with seven other companies by the Army Corps of Engineers Engineering and Support Center in Huntsville, Ala. Under the deal, Shaw will compete for $945 million in funding for explosive ordnance disposal task orders.

Shaw says the task orders are for munitions removal and environmental remediation support work at various Defense Department sites among other requirements.

"Shaw's commitment to provide our clients with the highest standards of environmental technology and safety align with the Department of Defense's long-term efforts to remediate their global operations from harmful munitions and other environmental concerns," George Bevan, Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure Group president, said in a statement.
