Alion to provide CounterMeasures to Army

MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 9 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Alion Science and Technology to support the standardization of the Army's collection and analysis of physical security information.

U.S. company Alion was selected to provide its CounterMeasures technology for the $938,000 task order as part of the Modeling and Simulation Information Analysis Center contract vehicle. Alion says its CounterMeasures technology will support the Army's Security Management System collectively referred to as SMS(CM).

Officials say the SMS(CM) software technology will help standardize the collection and evaluation of information obtained by physical security inspectors to better compare critical "assets, vulnerabilities, threats and mitigation options," a release said.

"By providing the Army with an enterprise visualization tool such as CounterMeasures, Alion is enabling Army leaders to evaluate and develop risk mitigation strategies in a timely manner and to set priorities based on the risk assessment," Richard Brooks, Alion senior vice president and manager of the Distributed Simulation Group, said in a statement.
