Smith & Wesson launches new Bodyguard

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- U.S. company Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. announced the launch of a new semiautomatic pistol and a revolver with integrated laser capabilities.

Smith & Wesson, with development partner Insight Technology, announced the release of the Bodyguard 380 semiautomatic pistol designed with a built-in Insight laser sight technology.

The Smith & Wesson-Insight Technology team also launched the new Bodyguard 38 revolver integrated with the Insight laser. Officials say the new guns are part of an effort to release a weapon that improves target accuracy without escalating costs.

"Both the Bodyguard 380 pistol and the Bodyguard 38 revolver have been built with state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques," Michael Golden, Smith & Wesson chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"Each provides a reliable and logical choice for those seeking a firearm for personal protection."
