Unisys to provide data tech to SOCOM

BLUE BELL, Pa., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency has contracted Unisys to provide its data storage security solutions to support next-generation information sharing.

U.S. company Unisys was selected by DISA to support the Special Operations Command's network-centric information technology initiatives as part of the Encore II contract vehicle.

Under the deal, Unisys will provide SOCOM with its Stealth family of data security solutions for evaluation in an effort to provide Special Operations Forces with secured information storage and sharing capabilities.

"The Unisys Stealth solutions can help organizations like SOCOM simplify their networks without sacrificing security, while delivering significant cost savings," Jim Geiger, Unisys Federal Systems Department of Defense managing partner, said in a statement.

"This new effort will give SOCOM and Unisys the opportunity to operationally test and evaluate our newly developed Unisys Stealth solution for storage."
