OSHKOSH, Wis., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. company Oshkosh Corp. announced it has surpassed its armored vehicle production delivery quotas for December marking its sixth successful month in a row.
Oshkosh is the prime contractor delivering mine-resistant, ambush-protected all-terrain vehicles as part of a Defense Department initiative to equip units in Afghanistan with a more maneuverable tactical vehicle.
Oshkosh announced it has reached its M-ATV production level of 1,000 vehicles per month for December, a company milestone marking the sixth consecutive month exceeding delivery requirements.
"Our employee gave a great effort to meet the aggressive production timeline for these urgently needed vehicles," Robert Bohn, Oshkosh chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"These M-ATVs will help improve the safety and mobility of our soldiers and Marines in Afghanistan."
