NATO contracts for scanning systems

HAWTHORNE, Calif., Dec. 1 (UPI) -- NATO has contracted U.S. company OSI Systems Inc. to support vehicle, cargo, personnel and baggage inspection initiatives.

OSI Systems says its Rapiscan Systems security division was selected by NATO authorities to deliver its widely deployed integrated security systems following a competitive international task order solicitation.

Under the $5 million deal, Rapiscan will support NATO operations with screening solutions designed to scan vehicle, cargo, baggage and individuals for illicit goods and other threats.

"We are pleased NATO has chosen Rapiscan to meet its requirements for reliable and comprehensive threat detection," Deepak Chopra, OSI Systems chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"This award demonstrates our ability to provide end-to-end, layered security screening solutions that address a wide-range of threats in the most demanding environments."
