GD contracted for 724 LAVs delivery

LONDON, Ontario, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- General Dynamics has received an order to deliver its Light Armored Vehicles from the U.S. Army to support a foreign military sale.

U.S. company General Dynamics says its Land Systems unit in Canada received the order from the Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, Life Cycle Management Command.

Under the $2.2 billion award, General Dynamics will deliver 724 of its Light Armored Vehicles in 10 different variants as part of a deal to support of the Army Security Assistance Command.

"We are pleased to be working once again with TACOM and Army Security Assistance Command in support of their Foreign Military Sales program," Sridhar Sridharan, General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada senior vice-president, said in a statement.

"This contract now allows us to immediately start work on variant design and production readiness. We look forward to reaching the manufacturing portion of this contract which will help us bring stability to our production workforce."
