Defense Dept. contracts for wireless tech

IRVING, Texas, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department has contracted EF Johnson Technologies Inc. to deliver wireless sensor network technologies.

U.S. company EF Johnson Technologies says its 3e Technologies International unit was awarded the contract. Under the $4.8 million 3eTI will deliver its FIPS 140-2 Validated secure wireless system.

According to a news release the FIPS 140-2 Validated will provide the Defense Department with a broadband solution that "integrates diverse sensors into a large system while reducing infrastructure costs."

"Our secure broadband solutions create a self configuring, self-healing secure wireless mesh network to enable seamless and secure voice, video, and data," Michael Jalbert, EF Johnson Technologies president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"This new contract calls for us to provide the execution, design, development, implementation, testing and delivery of an important sensor network system. We look forward to supporting the Defense Department in fulfilling this contract."
