HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Nov. 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Northrop Grumman to provide Counter-Rocket, Artillery and Mortars system support in Iraq.
U.S. company Northrop Grumman was awarded the C-RAM support contract from the Army Aviation and Missile Command located in Alabama. Under the $58 million deal, Northrop Grumman will provide C-RAM system engineering, deployment and logistics support among other requirements.
Officials say the contract, managed by the Director, Counter-Rocket, Artillery and Mortar Program Office, was issued to support ongoing military operations in Iraq and protect personnel from the indirect fire threats.
"We're proud to be continuing our work on C-RAM that helps to protect our troops against mortar and rocket attacks," Mike Twyman, Northrop Grumman Information Systems Integrated Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence Systems vice president, said in a statement.
"We are committed to continue delivering on the Army's confidence in Northrop Grumman's ability to provide this critical capability to our warfighters."
