GD to provide nuclear maintenance on subs

GROTON, Conn., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- General Dynamics has received a contract from the U.S. Navy to provide submarines homeported in Groton, Conn., with maintenance services.

U.S. company General Dynamics says its Electric Boat unit was awarded the contract. Under a $25 million follow-on deal, General Dynamics will continue to run the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton.

General Dynamics says the contract includes nuclear-maintenance work on the homeported Navy submarines along with modernization and repair services.

According to a news release, General Dynamics will "provide project management, planning, training and radiological-control services" at the shipyard.
