SAIC lands counter-IED training contract

MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- The U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center awarded Science Application International Corp. with a $32 million task order for counter explosive training.

SAIC was awarded the task order by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems, SPAWAR, Center Atlantic to provide counter-improvised explosive device training services to U.S. military personnel.

SAIC under the terms of the task order provides the warfare center with tactical training support for counter-IED operations. The order includes instruction for deploying U.S. Marines and logistical support to their training and education command.

"We look forward to continuing our support of SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic and the USMC as they provide counter-IED detection, training, and education to help protect our men and women in uniform," said Deborah James, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.

SAIC plans to conduct most of the work at Camp LeJeune, N.C., and Camp Pendleton, Twentynine Palms, and Bridgeport Calif.
