ORLANDO, Fla., July 29 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin has received a follow-on contract from the U.S. Army to deliver Arrowhead kits for the AH-64D Apache attack helicopter.
U.S. company Lockheed Martin was awarded the follow-on contract to support the Apache helicopter's Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor with its Apache Arrowhead system.
Under the $142 million lot six contract, Lockheed Martin will deliver 55 of its Arrowhead kits, which provide pilots with next-generation long-range, electro-optical precision engagement capabilities, to the Army and several international customers.
"The Arrowhead equipped Longbow Apache is an attack, security, and reconnaissance asset every ground commander wants overhead," Lt. Col. John Vannoy, Apache sensors product manager, said in a statement.
"This demand for the best sight sensor and attack helicopter combination has been consistent throughout the past eight years of military operations. Lot six will provide the kits required to complete the outfitting of our active component force."
