ARLINGTON, Va., April 15 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Stanley Inc. to provide next-generation biometric technologies to support military operations in various weather environments.
U.S. company Stanley was awarded the $1.7 million contract to provide the Army Intelligence Center with biometric multispectral fingerprinting technologies.
Stanley, an information technology services provider to U.S. defense and federal civilian agencies, will partner with biometric-technologies developer Lumidigm Inc. to provide the Army Intelligence Center's Language and Technology Office in Arizona with multispectral fingerprint sensors, or sensors that capture the surface and subsurface of the fingertip. Officials said the multispectral technology is expected to support biometric security in various weather environments.
"We look forward to beginning work on this new task and assisting the U.S. Army Intelligence Center Language and Technology Office with this critical support to facilitate the use of biometrics for identity dominance," Phil Nolan, Stanley chairman, president and chief executive, said in a statement.
"For more than five years, Stanley personnel have supported the biometrics mission with innovative technologies, and we appreciate the customer's continued confidence in our performance as we provide U.S. forces with new capabilities."
