BIO-key to support U.S. federal courts

WALL, N.J., March 30 (UPI) -- The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts has contracted BIO-key International Inc. for the company's biometric identity-management technologies.

U.S. company BIO-key was awarded the contract from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts to supply its Web-key platform to the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services System. BIO-key's Web-key will be integrated into the system's fingerprint-enabled identity-management kiosks.

Officials said the Web-key fingerprint-identification technology will support a personnel-authentication process at Probation and Pretrial Services that identifies offender and defendant locations within the federal court system.

"This is another example of how federal governments are leveraging BIO-key's biometric solutions, proving again that we have the most secure and easily deployable biometric identity products on the market today," Mike DePasquale, BIO-key chief executive, said in a statement.

"The deployment of biometrically enabled kiosks is an innovative solution that the U.S. Federal Probation and Pretrial Services Office has developed for use in identifying offenders and defendants, and we are extremely excited to be working in partnership to make their process more efficient and accurate, especially in an economy where security and cost savings are top priorities."
