OSHKOSH, Wis., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Oshkosh Corp.'s military division for an additional 6,000 Heavy Tactical Vehicles and trailers.
Wisconsin-based Oshkosh Defense was awarded a $1.2 billion contract for 6,000 Heavy Tactical Vehicles from the Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command. Officials say the vehicle order is for an upgraded variant of the Heavy Tactical Vehicle that has increased horsepower and new power-train and suspension systems.
Under the deal, Oshkosh will deliver its 13-ton payload capable Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks, Palletized Load Systems with trailers and 70 ton capable Heavy Equipment Transporters.
"No other manufacturer makes heavy tactical vehicles like Oshkosh. And today's announcement confirms the strong confidence the U.S. Army has in our Oshkosh Defense battle-tested and mission-ready fleet of vehicles and their capabilities to meet the in-field demands of tomorrow," Robert Bohn, Oshkosh chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
