DynCorp to continue second phase of Kunduz

FALLS CHURCH, Va., July 17 (UPI) -- DynCorp International has received a follow-on contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for continued work on a construction project in Afghanistan.

Officials say the $23.2 million contract award is for DynCorp to continue a garrison construction project for the Afghanistan National Army in Kunduz, Afghanistan. The competitive bid contract, from the Army Corps of Engineers, Afghanistan Engineering District, is called the Kunduz II project.

Kunduz II will support the Afghan National Army with facilities including "infantry barracks, dining areas, classroom/training areas, power, water, wastewater systems, a road network, maintenance facilities and fuel storage/handling," the release said.

DynCorp, which also has been contracted for construction projects in Jalalabad and Bermel, Afghanistan, says if all options are exercised, the newly announced deal could total more than $43 million.
