"The appointment reflects the company's continued focus on delivering innovative, high value systems to its U.S. government customers while reducing costs and achieving top line sales growth for its shareholders," Northrop Grumman said.

Northrop Grumman said Cawley would run IS accounting operations according to regular accounting principles and the Sarbanes-Oxley guidelines and that he would also oversee audit support, business resumption, and shared information systems and processes.

Cawley has worked for Northrop Grumman since 2003 as a corporate director and assistant controller. Before that, he was a partner in the accounting and professional services corporation Deloitte. He has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Brigham Young University.

Northrop Grumman said its IS sector "designs, develops, produces and supports network-enabled airborne systems that support military and homeland defense missions" for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance battle management command and control, and integrated strike warfare. The sector manufactures such key weapons systems as the B-2 stealth bomber, the RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aerial reconnaissance system, the E-2 airborne early warning/command and control aircraft, and the E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System.
