Sypris Electronics receives certification

TAMPA, Fla., March 26 (UPI) -- Sypris Electronics says its KIV-19M encryptor has been certified by the U.S. government as part of the Defense Department's crypto-modernization Initiative.

Officials say with the certification of Sypris Electronics' KIV-19M encryptor can now be deployed for use by the U.S. Defense Department among other government and civilian agencies. The KIV-19M, one of only two link encryptors certified by U.S. government authorities, is an effort to provide cryptographic security for all classifications of digital data traffic in the rugged conditions in conflict zones.

The KIV-19M is part of the Department of Defense-led multibillion-dollar crypto-modernization initiative. Officials say compact design and lightweight device enables users the ability to process data on two independent channels in the same unit.

"We are tremendously excited that our KIV-19M has received U.S. government certification and is now ready for deployment to defense and civilian agencies," Scott Hatton, Sypris Electronics president, said in a statement. "Our customers have been awaiting this certification and we are pleased to have the ability to deliver this modernized and highly enhanced product."
