WASHINGTON, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- The commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lt. Gen. Robert Van Antwerp, announced a new way to communicate updates on Iraqi reconstruction efforts.
Officials say Van Antwerp will begin writing and updating a blog pertaining to the Army Corps of Engineers' Iraqi reconstruction. The blog will be called "Corps-e-spondence" and will include automatically updating subscriptions site visitors can sign up to receive. Site visitors will also be able to post questions and comments.
"This is the way of the future," Van Antwerp said in a statement. "We should be out there too, clearly and openly communicating with the American public every chance we get."
Van Antwerp says future topics he plans to write about include the Army Corps of Engineers various missions in Iraq from "water resources and flood risk management to military facilities construction for the Army and Air Force at home and abroad," the release said.
Officials say Van Antwerp will also update the blog with news concerning Afghanistan reconstruction, the Gulf Coast recovery efforts in southeast Louisiana and work on decommissioned military sites among other Army Corps of Engineers initiatives.
