The Manila Times reported Thursday an investigation would be conducted and if evidence warrants, military trials would be held.

In addition to the 26 formally accused Wednesday, other Philippine military officers are suspected of involvement in the disrupted plan last February to topple President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

A number of prominent civilians are also suspected of possible involvement in the alleged plot.

Arroyo has been accused by critics of engaging in re-election fraud.
