Ticket sales from the match, which will be aired in 20 countries, will help fund projects in Asia, Africa, and Latin America chosen by the UNDP.

UNDP Goodwill Ambassadors Ronaldo and Zidane, both Brazilian soccer stars, will each captain an international side of athletes from around the world, soccer players and non-soccer players alike.

Kemal Dervis, administrator of the UNDP, praised those taking part.

"These talented athletes have inspired thousands of football fans like me to join our fight against poverty and we are lucky to have them on our team," he said. "Whatever the outcome of this game, we will all be winners."
