BRUSSELS, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Dutch politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali is set to film the sequel to her film about women in Islam that last year sparked a violent reaction from Islamists.
Filmmaker Theo Van Gogh, who directed Hirsi-Ali's first documentary, was murdered in broad daylight in Nov. 2004 following the first screening of the movie on Dutch TV.
Hirsi Ali, who was born in Somalia, has received several death threats and is currently living under police protection.
"Submission 2" will deal with the equally polemic subject of discrimination against homosexuals in Muslim societies.
"I want to start a discussion about the position of gays in Islam. In the film they are described as creatures of Allah," the Liberal member of the Dutch Parliament told Dutch daily 'De Volkskrant' Thursday.
To ensure the safety of those involved in the making of the movie, the faces of the actors will be obscured and their names will not figure on the list of credentials, Hirsi-Ali said.
"Submission 2" is expected to be released in 2006.
