Brazilians head to the polls

SAO PAULO, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Brazilians are heading to the polls Sunday to elect a new president following months of hotly contested debates and a race replete with mudslinging from all sides. Workers' Party candidate Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is way ahead in the polls with 45 percent of the perspective vote, which may not be enough to avoid a second-round runoff.
