Brazil's poll leader in sticky situation

SAO PAULO, June 3 (UPI) -- The leader in Brazil's presidential race, the candidate for the leftist Workers Party, appeared backed into a corner Monday following an endorsement by land reform activists that prompted criticism from the ruling Social Democratic Party. Were Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to denounce the pledge, it could be interpreted as an insult to many of his supporters.
