Uribe poised to win Colombia's elections

BOGATA, Colombia, May 26 (UPI) -- With 93.4 percent of the votes counted in Colombia's presidential election, hard-line independent candidate Alvaro Uribe is running at 53 percent compared to his rival, Liberal Party candidate Horacio Serpa who has 31.6 percent. Holding more than 50 percent of the vote, Uribe will not need a second round to become president.
