Putin urges faster growth, less red tape

MOSCOW, April 18 (UPI) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin called on his government and parliament Thursday to pass laws that would provide an impetus for higher growth and a rapid improvement in living standards while at the same time cutting bureaucratic red tape and corruption. In his annual state-of-the-nation address, Putin reiterated his view that not enough had been done to hasten economic growth.
