Sudan, Russia sign oil exploration deal

MOSCOW, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Sudan and Russia's Slavneft oil company have signed an oil exploration deal worth $200 million which covers the development of Bloc 9, a lucrative oil field in the heart of the east African state, Russian newspapers said Thursday.

The deal -- the first Russian oil investment in Sudan -- covers a 25-year production-sharing agreement between Slavneft and Sudan's state-owned Sudapet Co.
