Hafez Assad Jr. , Syria's first child

DAMASCUS, Syria, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- The first child of Syrian President Bashar Assad was born last week in Damascus and was named after his grandfather Hafez Assad, the weekly magazine "al-Iktissadi" reported Sunday. The magazine reported First Lady Asma Assad gave birth in a hospital in Damascus on Dec. 4 to a boy who was named after his grandfather and "Syria's historical leader Hafez Assad."
