TEL AVIV, Israel, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Violence erupted Wednesday in the West Bank and Gaza Strip after Israeli forces completed their pullback from the West Bank town of Ramallah.

Two Palestinians were killed during clashes with Israeli troops, Israeli and Palestinian sources said.

A Palestinian was killed in the southern Gaza Strip after militants attacked an Israeli settlement. An Israeli military source said Palestinians fired three mortar bombs at the center of the Gush Katif settlement block, prompting Israeli forces to attack "the sources of fire" in the Khan Younis refugee camp.

Palestinian sources in Khan Younis said militants fired several rounds of automatic fire, and Israeli troops retaliated with heavy fire on the camp.

The Palestinians said Mohamed al Qedra, 23, was killed and five people, including a pregnant woman and three children, were injured.

Another man, Eassa Dababseh, 50, was killed and his 17-year-old son was injured in an Israeli raid on the family's house in the West Bank village of Yatta, near Hebron, Palestinian security sources and hospital officials said. A third Palestinian was injured.

An Israeli military source said an undercover border police force wanted to arrest Dababseh, however he drew a gun and Israeli troops opened fire. The gunman was killed and several Palestinians "who interfered" during the exchange of fire were hit in their legs, the army spokesman said.

Dababseh was wanted for the killing of an Israeli settler in 1998.

Earlier Wednesday, the pre-dawn withdrawal from Ramallah left two autonomous Palestinian areas still under Israel Defense Forces' control: Jenin and Tul Karim.

A statement issued by the IDF spokesman said the forces left Ramallah and were "taking up positions in areas which are under Israeli security control" around the town.

Israelis forces occupied several West Bank towns following the Oct. 17 assassination of Tourism Minister Rehavaam Zeevi.

Israeli Defense Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer's media adviser, Yarden Vatikay, told United Press International it was not clear which areas Israel would vacate next. "There are daily assessments of the situation," said Vatikay.
