Argentina, Bolivia in gas pipeline deal

LA PAZ, Bolivia, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Argentina and Bolivia agreed to build a gas pipeline to link southern Bolivia to northern Argentina.

According to Bolivian media reports, the $1.2 billion project is aimed to provide up to 27.5 million cubic meters of natural gas to Argentina per day, up from current levels of around 6 million.

Bids to design and build the pipeline are expected to be held in December, and the pipeline is planned to be operational in two years' time.

In addition, the two countries are reportedly planning to build a gas separation plant estimated at $250 million near their border.
