Turkmen team to visit China for gas talks

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 26 (UPI) -- Turkmen officials will visit China soon for talks on gas supplies to the Asian giant, the country's Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

The high-ranking Turkmen team will visit China shortly "to speed up the construction of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline and feasibility study as well as timely start of Turkmen gas supplies to China," the Turkmen statement said.

The delegation will be headed by Isanguly Nuryyew, deputy oil and gas minister, and will discuss exploration and development of gas-rich areas in Turkmenistan's east. The two sides will also talk about the construction of a pipeline for Turkmen gas to China.

"These efforts are aimed at implementing a general agreement on annual supply of 30 billion cu.m. of Turkmen gas to China during the next 30 years," the statement said.
