The report came as the 10th international Oil and Gaz Uzbekistan exhibition opened in Tashkent, attended by 120 companies -- mostly Russian -- from 15 countries.

"In all, 60 per cent of all participants in the exhibition are Russian companies," the report said.

Following the beginning of construction for their Tashkent office, LUKoil president Vagit Alekperov announced that his company expected to produce up to 12 billion cubic meters of gas in Uzbekistan.

The announcement was repeated on the program, which also showed Andrey Kuzyayev, president of the LUKoil Overseas company, speaking about his company's successes in Uzbekistan.
