"Gazprom has been and remains the No. 1 company in the global gas production. But possessing gigantic gas reserves is not enough for it. It is necessary to put steady efforts into the development of gas production facilities," said Gazprom chief Alexei Miller in a statement. "And we successfully meet this challenge."

Production capacity was achieved by the commissioning of additional gas treatment facilities.

The company stated that the field is one of the largest in the world. Gazprom estimates the field holds more than 123 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and around 80 million tons of gas condensate and oil.

Russia holds the most natural gas reserves in the world.
