The Topix index of all first-section issues finished at 1,349 -- up 48 points, or 3.75 percent. Tuesday it rose just under three points.
Tokyo stocks got a major boost from the rebound on Wall Street, as well as the Shanghai market, a weakening yen versus the dollar, and investor expectations of improving U.S. job news later this week.
