ANN ARBOR, Mich., Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Satisfaction with personal computers is down for the third year in a row in the American Customer Satisfaction Index's Household Appliance and Electronics Report.

Customer satisfaction with all types of personal computers (including desktops, laptops and tablets) was down 1.3 percent in the report released Tuesday.

Desktop computers scored 81 and laptops and tablets scored 77 of 100 this year on the company's annual report, which also profiles household appliances, TVs and video players.

Tablets are down 6 percent from last year, which according to CNBC has had an effect on the entire personal computing industry, despite having an edge over laptops in 2014. David VanAmburg told NBC News that the market has reached a point of saturation where most customers who want a tablet or personal computer have one.

As for manufacturers, Apple leads the pack in the PC world, with a score of 84, seven points above the industry average. Amazon, Dell and Samsung are tied at 78, above such brands as ASUS (77) and Acer (70).

The proof is in the details when it comes to customer satisfaction with existing products, as users reported decreasing satisfaction with the performance of their devices. The report notes that this may be caused by users having inappropriately heightened expectations of their devices' capabilities.
