SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Recording artist and investor Snoop Dogg announced the launch of his very own brainchild, a media hub covering all things weed, affectionately called Merry Jane.

During his appearance at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco Monday, the rapper and now startup founder, real name Calvin Broadus, says Merry Jane will be a lifestyle site aimed at growing to become "the encyclopedia to the cannabis world."

The new site will feature exclusive editorial and video content surrounding the controversial plant for which Broadus is an unofficial spokesman. It will reportedly include special categories like "Deflowered," which will follow the stories of people who get high and describe a new experience while using marijuana.

On a more serious note, the new pot-centric hub will also discuss hard-hitting issues regarding the plant like the budding industry around it, legalization and policy. It will also contain access to a full database outlining the many strains of cannabis and their uses and connect users in states in which it is legalized to local dispensaries.

Everyone, from newcomers to veteran smokers, will be able to use Merry Jane productively, Broadus explained. It will aim to provide users with "all they need to know" about marijuana.

On top of that, Snoop Dogg hopes the site will help people feel more comfortable discussing their affinity toward weed. "There are so many people in the closet, and we are giving them an opportunity to come out of the closet and just admit they like to smoke," he said. "I'm a smoker, my name is Snoop Dogg, and I'm a stoner."

A limited amount of beta testers have been invited to try out the site before it launches to the public in the next few weeks.
