NEW YORK, April 24 (UPI) -- A poll of frequent fliers, conducted by Airfarewatchdog, found Spirit Airlines to have the rudest flight attendants, followed by Air Canada and Frontier.
Airfarewatchdog conducted the poll with 3,400 frequent fliers, asking them to assess which airline had the rudest in-flight attendants. Spirit Airlines got 26 percent of the rude vote, easily beating Air Canada, which came in second with 14 percent of the vote.
Virgin America was surprisingly placed at No. 4, getting nine percent of the rude vote. Virgin American has consistently be placed atop most surveys on customer satisfaction, which makes it odd that it would place this high.
Airfarewatchdog founder and president George Hobica said he too was surprised to see Virgin near the top of the list, but said that "although in all my years of traveling, I'd never had a problem with a flight attendant until I flew first class on Virgin America and encountered the rudest, most inattentive flight attendant I can ever remember. So maybe there's something going on there."
The results are weighted as bigger airlines will have have bigger response, and passengers who flew between January and October 2013 were involved in the survey.
The full survey ranking follows:
Spirit - 26 percent Air Canada - 14 percent Frontier - 11 percent Virgin America - 9 percent Allegiant - 8 percent United - 7 percent US Airways - 7 percent American - 5 percent AirTran - 3 percent Delta - 3 percent Hawaiian - 3 percent JetBlue - 3 percent Alaska - 1 percent Southwest - 1 percent
