WASHINGTON, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. wholesale inventories rose 0.4 percent in September on a seasonally adjusted basis to $506.3 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau said Friday.
Inventories were up 2.2 percent from September 2012, the bureau said.
Wholesale sales also gained, climbing 0.6 percent from August to $430.5 billion, 3.9 percent higher than September 2012, the U.S. Commerce Department agency said.
Sales of durable goods were up 2.1 percent month-to-month and up 6.9 percent from September 2012. Sales of non-durable goods slipped 0.7 percent from August and rose 1.4 percent from 12 months earlier.
The June inventories-to-sales ratio for wholesalers, seasonally adjusted, was 1.18, one tick higher than August's ratio of 1.17, the bureau said. The September 2012 ratio was 1.2.
