WASHINGTON, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of about 22,400 Cooper Crouse-Hinds ceiling boxes due to the possibility of cracking.
The ceiling boxes are designed to support fixtures. The company has reported one incident of a ceiling box cracking.
No injuries were reported, the CPSC said Tuesday.
The recall involves non-metallic polycarbonate ceiling boxes with part numbers TP16002, TP16022, TP16023, TP16122 and TP16307.
The ceiling boxes are black and round, 1.5 to 2.25 inches deep and 3.5 to 4 inches in diameter.
The boxes were made in the United States for Cooper Crouse-Hinds of Syracuse, N.Y., and sold mostly to commercial contractors and professional installers from December 2012 to April 2013, for between $1.50 and $4.
Consumers were advised to contact Cooper Crouse-Hinds to verify if their product is under recall. The company will replace boxes or refund consumers in full, the commission said.
