WASHINGTON, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- U.S. crude oil inventories rose by 4.1 million barrels in the week that ended Friday, the Energy Information Administration said.
Crude oil stockpiles climbed to 383.9 million barrels and are above the upper inventory range for this time of year, the agency said.
It was the second consecutive week with a high build up in stockpiles.
EIA said supplies of motor grade gasoline fell by 1.7 million barrels to 213.8 million barrels and are near the upper half of the average range for this time of year.
Supplies of distillate fuels, which include home heating oil, fell by 3.1 million barrels to 122.7 million and remain near the lower limit of the average range for this time of year.
The national average retail price of regular unleaded gasoline fell in the week, dropping by 6.6 cents to $3.294 per gallon. The price is 27.4 cents per gallon below the price in the same week of 2012, the EIA said.
