WAYZATA, Minn., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- U.S. conglomerate Cargill Inc. said that Chief Operating Officer and President David MacLennan would take over as chief executive officer in December.
The current CEO, Gregory Page, is scheduled to retire on Dec. 1, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

Page, 62, who has been with the company since 1974, will take over the position of executive chairman, when he resigns.
Page took over as CEO and chairman in 2007, the Journal said.
MacLennan has also held the position of chief financial officer. In April, Cargill hired former Sara Lee executive Marcel Smits to take the CFO post.
