BRUSSELS, April 22 (UPI) -- The European Commission said Monday consumer confidence rose slightly in Europe in April.
In a flash estimate that could be revised later, the commission said its consumer confidence indicator rose by 1.2 points in both the 27-member European Union and the 17-nation currency region known as the eurozone.

The indicator reached minus 20.4 for the EU and minus 22.3 in the eurozone.
The long-term average for the index, dating back to 2003, is minus 12.5.
